The people closest to us take the top priority in our lives. Our friends and family connections are what make us who we are. We love spending quality time with our families, friends, and with each other. We always make it a priority to go out to dinner once a week without our phones and just to talk.

We know that when we have a child we will be a lot busier and might not have time to leave the house as often, but we will always make it a priority to be with each other and family. We also make it a point to mostly cook meals at home and eat a variety of healthy foods. Maintaining our health is extremely important to us.

We also prioritize getting outside once a day and taking a walk - even if we only have time for a short one.

We met while working on the set of the movie filming on the east coast near where Liannys lived. We were in different departments but worked together on certain aspects of the movie on a daily basis. We started spending time together outside of work and we realized that we both wanted a relationship. We bonded over our love of food, traveling, and going to plays in New York City which was a short train ride away from our offices. Once the movie was finished filming and Katie moved back to California, we both realized we did not want to live without each other. Because there are many more job opportunities in film on the west coast, Liannys was able to find a job fairly quickly in California and moved there within a couple of months.

When we first met, our conversations revolved around our love of movies and trying new foods. We would spend time together after work discovering new places. The beginning of our relationship was mostly spent venturing into New York City and trying out new restaurants or going to the movies. We would walk around the city for hours just talking and popping into random cafes and restaurants for a bite to eat and then continuing on. We always tried to make the days last as long as possible so we could spend as much time as we could with one another.

Liannys loves that Katie is hardworking, determined, and willing to help everyone. Katie believes in the good in people and always giving someone the benefit of the doubt or a second chance. Liannys also loves that Katie is very family-oriented which is how Liannys was raised. Distance is not an issue especially with families on opposite coasts and Katie understands the importance of remaining close to Liannys’ family even though they live far away. Katie loves that Liannys is very protective of her friends and family. Liannys cares about everyone and will always show her love for the people closest to her by being there for them without expecting anything in return. Katie loves that Liannys is a selfless person who is one of the hardest working people she knows. We make a great team. Liannys is never afraid to get her hands dirty to get a job done. Katie can always count on her to fix things around the house and make sure that everything is in the very best condition. Liannys has the amazing ability to see something that needs to be done and fix it without being asked or making a big deal out of it. Katie is a great listener, especially with children. She really takes time to understand where someone is coming from without judgement. Her ability to understand where someone is coming from even if she does not agree with them is something Liannys admires most about her.

We are both very close to our families. Although Liannys’ family lives on the east coast, we make an effort to go visit them at least twice a year and they often visit us as well. We also talk to them on the phone or FaceTime at least once a week. Most of Katie’s family live close by and we visit with them about once a month on average. We love going to Liannys’ aunt’s house for Thanksgiving where we eat a mix of traditional American food, like turkey, as well Dominican favorites like rice and beans. Every year we go to Katie’s family’s beach house during the holidays where they have a Christmas boat parade filled with lights and music. We have a young nephew on Katie’s side and two young cousins on Liannys’ side so it is always very fun to spend time playing and reading with them. Our families are so excited to add another child to our lives. Liannys loves decorating for all the holidays and spends a lot of time making sure everything looks perfect for when we have people over. We love to invite our friends and family over for dinners and outdoor movie nights in our front patio. Katie loves to cook for everyone and one of her favorite dishes to make is risotto. Since we live in southern California, the weather is nice almost all year round so we spend a lot of time outside.

We live in California in a city that hosts a lot of different family events. They have an annual tree lighting ceremony in December at City Hall with hot chocolate and churros. On Halloween, streets are always busy with trick-or-treaters and a lot of neighbors pass out candy together. We live about a five-minute walk away from the elementary school so there are a lot of children in our neighborhood. There are several parks very close to our home and one of them has a splash pad for kids to play on when it gets hot in the summer. The library has daily kids activities including story time and lego building. One of our favorite things to do is go on weekend walks or hikes around our neighborhood and on the hiking trails near our house. We would describe our home as cozy and inviting. We have a really nice front patio where we love to sit and eat dinner most nights. Our home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Katie’s favorite room is our bedroom where we have all of our books and things that are important to us. The lighting is very soft which makes the room very cozy and warm. Liannys’ favorite room is our living room. It is a big space that has a piano, a record player, couches, a television, and a fireplace. It is the room we spend the most time in.

We are a married couple who met working in the film industry. We bonded immediately over the fact that we both had goals to have a family in the future through adoption. We have been together for almost three years and married for over a year. We are so excited to finally welcome a child into our lives.

We live in southern California, just a short drive away from the beach and Disneyland. Our neighbors are friendly, kind, and we take care of each other. Our neighborhood is perfect for going on walks to the small downtown area for lunch or coffees. The elementary school, library, and City Hall are all within walking distance. Our home is filled with books, music, laughter, and fun. It is a Spanish style house with a patio in front where we host dinners and outdoor movie nights. There is a big olive tree - perfect for climbing. We are planting a vegetable garden in the back yard and have a lot of grass for a child to run around in. Liannys is a huge sports fan so she can’t wait to play baseball and soccer in the backyard with a child. Katie loves to read and play the piano. She can’t wait to pass those passions on to a child.

We split chores and tasks evenly with Katie doing the cooking and maintaining our finances and calendar, and Liannys doing most of the cleaning, organizing of the house, and decorating. We both dislike doing laundry so we share that task - but it always gets done!

Katie’s parents, sister, brother-in-law, and baby nephew are all a short car ride away and they are all looking forward to adding another baby to our family. Liannys is an only child but has many cousins who she grew up with like siblings. Some also have young children and her aunts, uncles, cousins, and mom are so excited to welcome a new little one to the mix. Liannys’ family lives on the east coast and we take multiple trips a year to see them and they make several trips out to see us. We also go on a big family vacation once a year all together.

Katie will transition into being a stay-at-home mom once we have a child. Liannys will take family leave from her job and then continue to work. Because of her flexible work from home schedule, she will be able to be at home a lot, even when she is working.
